How limits work
Limits are checked at the moment you cross them, not applied retroactively. The action is refused with a message that names the limit. Everything already in the workspace stays exactly where it is.

Yes. No credit card to open a workspace and no trial clock. Free stays on 10 boards and 10 seats for as long as you want it. Paid plans raise the ceiling — they do not switch the lights back on.
The action that would cross the line is refused with a message naming the limit, and nothing already in your workspace is touched. Your boards stay readable and editable; you just cannot add the eleventh board until you upgrade.
No. Guests are counted separately and are scoped to only the boards you add them to. Use them for contractors, clients, and anyone who needs one board rather than the workspace.
Upgrades go through Stripe Checkout, and you manage the subscription — card, invoices, cancellation — in the Stripe customer portal. Plans are monthly, per workspace, in USD.
On every plan, including Free. Export any board to JSON or CSV whenever you like. Import runs the same way, so moving in from Trello and moving on later both work without asking us.
Nothing is deleted. Boards past the new limit become read-only rather than disappearing, and everything unlocks again the moment you upgrade.
